Come truffle hunting with us and have a truly unique and interactive, winter experience, guided by our expert truffle dogs, Tessa and Rita.. Learn about truffles and their secret life, before joining working dogs Tessa & Rita, on an exciting truffle hunt adventure. Smell, touch, taste the famous Black Winter Truffle nicknamed ‘black gold’.
what to expect…
Firstly, you will be introduced to the mysterious underground world of truffles; find out how they grow; how we farm them and; how truffles can add a whole new level of enjoyment to the food you eat.
Secondly, you will go on the truffle hunt with our expert truffle hunters, Tessa or Rita. The dogs love the hunt and immediately switch into working mode, using their incredible sense of smell to seek out the precious TRUFFLES. They each have their own individual body language to communicate to their owner/truffle hunter, when they have found the black gold. As you are guided through the orchard by our eager canine truffle hunters, you can enjoy the tranquility of nature and feel a connection with the environment. You will even get the chance to harvest a truffle with your own hands.
You will then learn how to clean and store truffles and how to recognise quality and ripeness. Finally, you will be treated to a truffle tasting and savour the unforgettable taste.
After the hunt visit the farm shop where you can buy your very own freshly harvested truffles. Truffle season only runs from mid-June to the end of August so don’t miss out on this unforgettable opportunity.
