As another truffle season draws to a close, we’re reflecting on what has been a truly rewarding few months.
While this winter brought the challenges of an El Niño weather pattern, with warmer and drier soil conditions than truffles prefer for optimal development, we’re incredibly grateful for the wonderful season we’ve shared with so many of you. Nature always has the final say, and every season brings its own lessons, but the passion and enthusiasm of our customers have made this year one to remember.
We’ve been delighted to strengthen existing relationships and forge exciting new collaborations with some of the Yarra Valley’s talented chefs, who continue to showcase the extraordinary flavour of fresh Black Winter Truffles. It has also been a pleasure welcoming so many visitors to our farmgate shop, where we’ve enjoyed sharing our harvest directly with fellow food lovers.
Perhaps the greatest highlight has been hosting the many truffle hunting groups who joined us in the orchard. Watching our clever truffle dogs uncover these hidden treasures and seeing the excitement on the faces of our guests, never loses its magic. Thank you to everyone who visited, supported our family business, and took the time to share your wonderful feedback. Your kind words and encouragement mean more to us than you know.
Over the coming months we’ll be carrying out our annual orchard maintenance, giving our hardworking truffle dogs a well-earned rest, and taking a short break ourselves before turning our attention to the 2027 season. It’s an exciting time, as our orchard continues to mature and move ever closer to its prime producing years. We’re confident the best is still to come.
